A beautifully sculptural piece inspired by Ireland’s coast, this unique ornament transforms a real Galway Bay oyster shell into a miniature sailing boat.
The shell, collected from the wild Atlantic waters, forms the natural hull—its rich textures and organic shape preserved and enhanced with a clear protective finish. Rising from its centre, a mast of twisted copper wire work adds warmth and contrast, lending a sense of movement and character.
The sail is sculpted from clay. Its surface is detailed with a shamrock pattern, a subtle tribute to Irish heritage. Fine copper wire is used to tie the sail to the mast, adding both strength and an extra layer of craftsmanship, with every detail thoughtfully considered.
The entire piece rests on a smooth porcelain tile base, grounding the form and elevating its display—allowing the oyster’s natural beauty and the boat’s sculptural silhouette to be fully appreciated. The transparent adhesive connecting the oyster to its base reflects light like water, evoking the oceanic atmosphere. This clear bond creates the illusion that the shell remains embraced by the sea.

These are wild, natural oyster shells gathered from the west coast of Ireland, and each one varies in size, shape, and natural markings. The average shell measures approximately 2″ × 3″, though some may be slightly shorter or taller, wider or narrower. As each piece is hand-decorated, the artwork will also vary, making every trinket dish truly unique. Any embellishments on the shell may change in design from time to time.

We work with what nature has given us. Variations such as; growth marks, ragged edges, chipped backs, and barnacles make each one special.
